Fotis Foukalas received the Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2001), the MSc in Information and Communication Technologies management from the Electrical and Computer Engineering of National Technical University of Athens (2004) and the PhD in wireless communication systems from the Informatics and Telecommunications department of National Kapodistrian University of Athens (2010).
His research interests include the performance analysis, design and simulation of wireless communication systems and especially cross-layer designs for cognitive radio applications and energy efficiency as well as their hardware abstraction like embedded protocol and component design.
He has authored around 30 research articles in the above areas. He has participated in several EU-funded and National Research initiatives including management duties and he is currently serving as senior researcher in the Industrial Systems Institute of the "Athena" Research Innovation Centre guiding the R&D activities of the wireless digital communications and machines research group.
