PISTIS Kick off Meeting

To manage and share data in a secure and trustworthy manner, specialized data platforms are required, especially for public institutions and the business community, which is why the EU-funded Horizon Europe project PISTIS started on January 24-25, 2023. For a kick-off meeting of PISTIS, 60 representatives of the 31 partners met for two days at Fraunhofer FOKUS.
PISTIS stands for Promoting and Incentivizing Federated, Trusted, Fair Sharing and Trading of Interoperable Data Assets and aims to create incentives for companies and public institutions to share their data assets with each other – in a controlled secure and fair way. For this purpose, the 31 European project partners from eleven countries are developing a reference platform as an infrastructure for sharing, federated exchange and trading, and monetization of interoperable data sets. Fraunhofer FOKUS is coordinating the project, which runs until June 2026.
The Industrial Systems Institute is coordinating the requirements analysis and functional specifications of the PISTIS platform. It is also leading and contributing to the tasks regarding the design and development of the data security and trust services, data lineage tracking via blockchain, access control mechanisms as well as on-chain audit functions for data access and processing.
