Athanasios Christopoulos obtained a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science in 2011, an MSc by Research in Instructional Design in 2013, and a PhD in Virtual Reality Engineering in 2018, all from the University of Bedfordshire, United Kingdom. From 2013 to 2018, he served as Laboratory Teaching Staff and later, as an Adjunct Lecturer, in the Department of Computer Science at the same institution. His career then led him to the University of Turku in Finland, where he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Learning Analytics. In 2023, he returned to his home country, Greece, where he currently works as a Research Fellow at the University of Ioannina. Dr. Christopoulos’s scientific output includes approximately 50 scientific articles published in international peer-reviewed journals and conferences. Additionally, he serves as an editorial board member and reviewer for several prestigious educational technology journals, such as IEEE Transactions on Education, International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction, British Journal of Educational Technology, and Frontiers in Education. His research interests span a wide array of subjects within the realm of technology and education, including Human-Computer Interaction, Mixed Reality, Learning Analytics, Instructional Design, and Gamification. His primary focus revolves around understanding how these elements interact to optimise educational outcomes and enhance learner experiences.
