Dr. Dương-Văn Nguyen received his B.Sc. degree through the Excellence Programme (PFIEV) in 2007 from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. In 2013, he obtained his Ph.D. in Robotics from the University of Siegen within the ZESS/MOSES programme. From 2013 to 2015, he worked as a Research Engineer at Valeo in Ireland. From 2015 to 2024, he worked primarily at Panasonic Automotive Systems EU as Head of the ADAS department, while also serving as a visiting professor at several universities, including Goethe University, the University of Siegen, Chengdu University, and others.
Since 2024, he has joined VinFast as Global Deputy CEO, responsible for ADAS systems and Autonomous Driving. Dr. Nguyen is widely recognised for his contributions to Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4 ADAS systems, which have been presented at various international automotive exhibitions, including IAA, Stuttgart Messe Automotive, World Congress 2021, as well as CES 2020, CES 2021, CES 2022, and CES 2025.
He is considered an outstanding researcher and has received nine Research and Innovation grants, including CARAMEL, CPSoSAware, TRUSTEE, and others, under the European Framework Programme. Since 2021, he has been a Senior Member of IEEE and a member of the IEEE P2020 Standards Working Group.
His scientific and professional work includes one book, one book chapter, one Springer Tech-Press monograph, nine patents, ten journal articles, and more than thirty publications in international conferences.
Duong can support collaborations with the Centre by proposing real-world challenges and helping transfer research outcomes to the market, while maintaining a balance with academic independence. His contribution as Deputy CEO of VinFast Europe substantially strengthens research activities, promoting excellence and an international perspective for the members of ATHENA.
