CV in Brief

Dr. Georgios Leftheriotis is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Patras. He holds the Diploma of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineer from the Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering of the University of Patras (2009). He is a licensed Mechanical Engineer in Greece, since 2010, with A′ class degrees for Category 9 (Electromechanical studies) and Category 27 (Environmental studies). He also holds a M.Sc. in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering from the Department of Civil Engineering of University of Patras (2011) and a Ph.D. in Coastal Engineering, Sediment Transport and Morphodynamics from the same Department. He is the author or co-authors of eight (8) articles in international scientific journals and fifteen (15) articles/extended abstracts in proceedings of international or national conferences. He has served as Principal Investigator in one (1) funded scientific project for Postdoctoral researchers and as member of the research team in over 10 funded scientific projects. He also serves as reviewer for eight (8) scientific journals, with over twenty-five (25) reviews submitted in the last three years. Since 2019, he is an Academic Teaching Fellow in the Department of Environmental Engineering of the University of Patras in Agrinio, Greece, teaching four courses: Applied Hydraulics, Technical Hydrology, Statics for Engineers and Geodesy. His main research activities are in the area of coastal engineering, sediment transport and morphodynamics, with emphasis on coastal erosion and flooding, as well as in the field of lagoon circulation/hydrodynamics and environmental hydraulics.
