PhD candidate at the University of Patras
Member of ISI's Research Area Groups
Nikitas-Rigas Kalogeropoulos, born on November 18, 1991, is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Patras, where his research focuses on "Text Representation and Modeling with Applications on Information Retrieval and Data Mining." Prior to his doctoral studies, he earned a Master's degree in Data-Driven Computing and Decision Making from the same institution. His master's thesis explored "Text Topic Modeling and Information Retrieval in Distributed Systems." Kalogeropoulos also holds a Diploma in Computer Engineering and Informatics from the University of Patras, where his thesis examined "Text Representation Implementing Graphs." Beyond his academic accomplishments, Kalogeropoulos has gained extensive teaching experience as a teaching assistant at the University of Patras, supporting courses such as Introduction to Bioinformatics, Information Retrieval, Data Mining and Machine Learning, Databases, Introduction to Computer Science, and Object-Oriented Programming. His dedication to research is reflected in his numerous contributions to peer-reviewed conferences and journals. Kalogeropoulos' research interests lie at the intersection of information retrieval, machine learning, and distributed systems. He is particularly focused on information retrieval models that utilize graph-based representations, the integration of machine learning techniques to enhance model performance, and the application of these methodologies in distributed systems using frameworks such as Apache Spark. His interdisciplinary approach also extends to bioinformatics, where he applies natural language processing, machine learning, and deep learning techniques to the analysis of biological data. His work continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in data-driven computing, making significant contributions to both academic research and practical applications.
