6G-BRICKS Project Kick-off meeting

On 20th January 2023, the 6G-BRICKS Project “Building Reusable testbed Infrastructures for validating Cloud-to-device breakthrough technologies”, held its kick-off meeting (KoM) via a teleconference. This 36-month EU-funded Research and Innovation Action funded under the HORIZON Europe SNS programme officially started on the 1st of January 2023.
The meeting was attended by the project’s 17 partners and included partners’ presentations of the vision and objectives of the project, as well as an overview of the project’s expectations and guidelines by the European Commission’s Project Officer. Partners also discussed the project’s work plan, challenges and risks identified, and its implementation schedule.
6G-BRICKS aims to deliver a new 6G facility, building on the baseline of mature ICT-52 platforms, that bring breakthrough cell-free and RIS technologies that have shown promise beyond 5G networks. Moreover, novel unified control paradigms based on Explainable AI and Machine Reasoning are explored. All enablers will be delivered in the form of reusable components with open APIs, termed “bricks”. Finally, initial integrations with O-RAN are performed, aiming for the futureproofing and interoperability of 6G-BRICKS outcomes.
The 6G-BRICKS project has been funded by the European Union. Views and opinions expressed are however those of the author(s) only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union. Neither the European Union nor the granting authority can be held responsible for them.
The Industrial Systems Institute acts as the project Lead Partner.
