The Industrial Systems Institute of the Athena Research Center - (IN.BI.S. / E.K. Athena) held the 6th Stakeholder Meeting of the European project CEI Boost Interreg Europe at the Innovation Hub of the Region of Western Greece on January 15, 2026.

The aim of the meeting was the presentation of the DISOCAFS Pilot Action and the planning of the early stages of its implementation. The meeting was opened with a greeting by the Deputy Regional Governor for Rural Development Region of Western Greece , Mr. Andreas Filias, who highlighted the importance of cooperation and the use of digital technologies in promoting the circular economy and sustainable development in Western Greece, while emphasizing the role of targeted initiatives, such as the development of the project's digital platform, in supporting and modernizing the agri-food sector. The meeting was coordinated by Prof. Chrysostomos Stylios, Director of the Industrial Systems Institute of the Athena Research Center, who presented the pilot action, focused on improving food waste management, utilizing surpluses, and connecting producers with social initiatives through a digital platform. 

An open discussion followed, with live and online participation of the IN.VIS team. and important executives of the rural development of the Region of Western Greece . Among others, Dr. Konstantinos Milios, Head of the Directorate of Veterinary Medicine of the PDE, Dr. Spyros Papaspyrou, Head of the Directorate of Agricultural Economy of Region of Western Greece, Mr. George Mikeoglou, Head of the Agricultural Economy Department of the Ilia Regional Unit, Dr. Theofanis Zacharatos, Scientific Collaborator at Region of Western Greece, as well as other experts, with a focus on the initial implementation of the pilot action.

Special emphasis was placed on ensuring the safety of products to be offered for utilization by charitable organizations, as this is a crucial condition for the successful operation of the platform. In this context, proposals were submitted for the implementation of specific safety measures and the use of declarations of conformity by producers, with the aim of fully complying with the required standards and specifications.

The meeting concluded with the start of the process of identifying and activating producers and suppliers, with the support of Region of Western Greece, in order to ensure their effective approach and participation.
