SOSVITI Project hits mid-term in Granada
Last week, the SOSVITI consortium gathered in the city of Granada for our successful Mid-Term Meeting (April 27-28). The Industrial Systems Institute of Athena Research Center had an active participation contributing significantly to the productive discussions.
What is SOSVITI all about?
Our mission is to develop a Decision Support System (DSS) for sustainable soil management in European vineyards. We are working to:
- Build comprehensive soil erosion models tailored to vineyards;
- Understand the perceptions of farmers, policymakers, and stakeholders regarding sustainable practices;
- Integrate AI, remote sensing, and big data into a practical tool that helps growers protect soil health, ensure food quality, and adapt to climate change.
Beyond the meeting room:
We also had the fantastic opportunity to visit Señorío de Nevada winery, where we could see real-world vineyard challenges firsthand and exchange ideas with practitioners. Additionally, we enjoyed valuable networking with partners from the Soilcrates project, opening doors for future collaboration on soil health in Europe.
The meeting brought together universities, research centers, and SMEs from Spain, Germany, Italy, and Greece — all committed to turning science into action for the future of viticulture.
Stay tuned for more updates as we move toward the final DSS prototype!
