ESMARTCITY: Enabling Smarter City in the MED Area through Networking

The main objective of ESMARTCITY is the improvement of the innovation capacity of the cities in the MED region by creating innovative ecosystems, involving Quadruple Helix actors. To this end, the project aims to pilot the ideas of the Smart City, using digital technologies and energy efficiency technologies to provide better services to the citizens with less environmental impact.

The project stands up to the challenge of enhancing the necessary public authority/citizen pull to match the already existing technology push driving at large the Smart City market. To this end it will enroll to a multinational pilot deployment in the MED area related to the application areas of intelligent districts, smarter energy and smarter lighting. Furthermore, it will test its sustainability with experimentation and co-creation scenarios and intervening in MED territory innovation policy change strategies.

The expected project results are

  • Upgrade of existing innovative clusters in the MED area integrating Smart City concept
  • Networking activities led by existing innovation clusters involving Smart City community Quadruple Helix actors
