CV in Brief
Georgios Zervakis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics (CEID) at the University of Patras, Greece, a position he has held since September 2022. Before joining CEID, he was a Research Group Leader at the Chair for Embedded Systems (CES) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany. At CES (2019 – 2022), he led research initiatives in digital design for approximate computing and machine learning circuits. Dr. Zervakis received both his Diploma and Ph.D. degrees from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece, in 2012 and 2018, respectively. After completing his Ph.D., he worked at InAccel, which was later acquired by Intel, before joining KIT a year later. He has participated in 14 research projects funded by the EU, NSRF, HFRI, DFG, and private sources, serving as the project coordinator in two of them. He has also held research associate positions at the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS), Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Dr. Zervakis is actively involved in the academic community, serving as a reviewer for several prestigious IEEE and ACM journals, and as a technical program committee member for major design conferences, including DAC, DATE, and ICCAD. His main research interests include digital design, low-power and accelerator microarchitectures, approximate computing, design automation, emerging technologies, printed and flexible electronics, and circuit design for machine learning and
