Dr. Alejandra Arroyo-Cerezo
Postdoctorate Collaborating Researchers
Senior Researcher
Member of ISI's Research Area Groups
Alejandra Arroyo Cerezo received her PhD in Chemistry with international mention from the University of Granada (Spain) in 2024, awarded cum laude and receiving the 43rd “San Alberto Magno” Doctoral Thesis Award for her doctoral research funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. She also holds degrees in Human Nutrition and Dietetics and in Food Science and Technology, as well as a master’s degree in Chemical Sciences and Technologies. Her research is focused on the development of green analytical methodologies based on rapid and non-destructive techniques, combined with chemometrics and data science tools for food quality and authenticity assessment. Her expertise includes the use of miniaturised spectrometric techniques —such as Raman, infrared and low-field NMR spectroscopies— together with data mining and machine learning tools. Within her doctoral research, she developed innovative spectrometry-chemometrics approaches aligned with Green Analytical Chemistry, enabling rapid, non-invasive and holistic assessment of food authenticity and quality, with a focus on extra virgin olive oil, dairy products such as cheeses and margarines, using Raman, NIR and low-field NMR fingerprints, together with novel metrics to evaluate method sustainability and the informational quality of analytical signals. To date, her scientific output comprises 14 articles published in SCI-JCR journals (with additional manuscripts in preparation), three book chapters and the editorship of a scientific book published by Springer Nature. She has been involved in several national and international research projects and European COST Actions, and has completed international research stays in Italy, Denmark and Belgium. She is currently a postdoctoral associate researcher in Patras (Greece) and participates in the European MSCA project SOSVITI, aimed at developing a decision support system for vineyard soil management. She is a member of the Spanish Society of Analytical Chemistry and the Spanish Society for Chemometrics and Qualimetrics.
