Ilias A. Iliopoulos is a Researcher at University of Patras from 2018. He has an Integrated Master of Engineering in Mechanical and Aeronautics Engineering (University of Patras, Greece). His doctoral research is centered around diagnostic and prognostic methods for critical components of railway vehicles and infrastructure using stochastic methods and on-board vehicle measurements. In this capacity, he develops advanced statistical time series methods and machine learning techniques for vehicular dynamics identification, track condition monitoring, and maintenance prognosis. He has also actively engaged with both expert and non-expert audiences, sharing his research insights through participation in international conferences and meetings with railway industry leaders such as ALSTOM, HITACHI-Perpetuum Solution, SKF, SPM, and ATTIKO METRO. Ilias has been involved in project management and proposal writing for EU and national funding opportunities. He successfully completed a three-year collaborative project with ATTIKO METRO (2018-2021), focusing on the Automated Condition Monitoring of critical mechanical subsystems and components of railway vehicles. As of present, he collaborates with European leaders in aviation industry (Airbus, Dassault Aviation) for an EU project focusing on Artificial Intelligence based collaborative air combat.
