Ioannis-Orestis Pagdatoglou is a 24-year-old undergraduate at the department of Computer Engineering and Informatics at the University of Patras. During his studies he gained hands-on experience with parallel programming APIs such as OpenMP and MPI, hardware design, computer architecture and artificial intelligence. Alongside his academic studies, he has been actively involved in providing guidance to fellow undergraduate students in their studies at the laboratories of Fundamentals of Computer Architecture and Databases, where he assisted them with academic challenges and helped enhance their understanding of key concepts. His biggest achievement came in 2023 when he received a gold medal as part of the PATRAS-MED 2023 team at the 2023 iGEM Competition. The team's project focused on developing a novel pancreatic cancer therapy utilizing CAR-NK cells. He played a crucial role in the project by contributing to molecular simulations and leveraging AI models such as AlphaFold for protein creation. His diploma thesis titled "Development of a new post-processing approach to address bias in machine learning" showed great promise during the experiment phase and may lead to the establishment of new methods of debiasing ai models. Throughout his academic and project work, he has developed proficiency in a wide range of programming languages including C, C++, Python, Java, SQL, PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. He is experienced with various integrated development environments such as Visual Studio, Eclipse, Atom, PyCharm, and IntelliJ IDEA. His expertise extends to operating systems including Windows (with WSL and WSL2) and Linux, and he is well-versed in source control using Github and Gitlab.
