Collaborating Researchers
PhD Candidate at Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics Department of University of Patras
CV in Brief
Ioannis E. Saramantas received the Diploma Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics from the University of Patras, Greece, in 2020. He currently is a PhD candidate in the Stochastic Mechanical Systems & Automation (SMSA) Laboratory of the same Department. His doctoral research areas cover Structural Health Monitoring, Data Analysis, and Machine Learning. He also has strong interest in the development, implementation and validation of advanced statistical time series methodologies for Machine Learning based Structural Health Monitoring for populations of composite aerostructures under manufacturing and operational uncertainty, considering experimental cases as well as the development and simulations with Finite Element models of composite structures. Within this field of research, his papers have been presented on International Conferences such as International Conference on Structural Dynamics (EURODYN), International Conference of Engineering Against Failure (ICEAF), International Conference on Noise and Vibration Engineering (ISMA) and European Workshop on Structural Health Monitoring (EWSHM). He successfully completed a three-year collaborative project with Israel Aerospace Industries, Tel Aviv University and PRISMA Electronics SA (2021-2023), focusing on the robust to uncertainty Machine Learning based Structural Health Monitoring for a population of nominally identical composite aerostructures, including the development of a prototype system for this purpose. As for the present, he is a researcher of an H.F.R.I. research project focusing on the automated synthesis of runtime monitors for safe & secure distributed industrial systems.
