CV in Brief
During his attendance at the Department of Telecommunication and networks, Nikos expressed his interest for computer networks choosing the relevant courses. During his practical training at the Computer Technology Institute and Press "Diophantus" he worked for the Greek School Network, leading users on how to make the right usage of network sources. After finishing his internship, he was hired as a junior network engineer for Greek School Network. He used to provide technical support, plus he was a member of the implementation of MAN networks team. At the same period of time he completed his publication “A Simulation Framework for the Performance Evaluation of Localisation Techniques over WSNs” for “SENSORCOMM 2011 : The Fifth International Conference on Sensor Technologies and Applications. After three years he started working for AT&T, as a network Analyst. He administered and maintained VPN Gateways and CDN servers which were used for IPTV. Couple of years later he moved to another team and his role was an integrator for several customers around the globe. He was implementing and troubleshooting L3 and L2 issues mostly on Cisco devices. Next he worked as a network and system administrator. His main responsibility was to take care of the company's network devices and servers. Network devices were mostly Cisco, HP Aruba and the servers were all Windows Servers. He was responsible for VPN connections, internal connections, Wifi and server interconnectivity. Then he decided to move back to his hometown and was hired as network administrator of University of Patras. He was monitoring and troubleshooting all the network devices of all departments from L1 to L3 issues. In addition was managing some Fortigate firewalls which were offering security to data centers being maintained internally at the university. At the same period he started studying at University of Peloponnese and after two years he obtained his Master’s degree in Advanced Educational Technologies. Next career step was to work as a network engineer for a Greek integrator. He was occupied mostly with Checkpoint firewalls, Cisco ASA and Palo Alto ones. In many cases he was troubleshooting L2 and L3 issues (Cisco, HP Aruba) on wired and wireless network devices. Now he is currently working remotely for an American company where designs and implements networks for industrial environments. He works with Cisco, Moxa and Fortigate equipment and he is involved in all processes from the beginning of the project. He collaborates with other teams, technical managers, customers and vendor technicians.
