Vasileios Thomopoulos is a Ph. D. candidate at the Computer Engineering and Informatics Department of the University of Patras, focusing his research on “An Agent-Based Model for Disease Epidemics in the Greek territory”. He received his Diploma from the same department, where he conducted his diploma thesis in Natural Language Processing (NLP). His main research interests include Agent-Based Modeling, Synthetic Populations, Smart Farming, and computational modeling for decision support. He has authored and co-authored several scientific publications and articles. He actively participates as a member of research teams in multiple European and national R&D projects. Beyond academia, he has held public administration positions, serving as President of the Municipal Library–Patras Cultural Organization (2014–2018) and Deputy Mayor of Environment, Energy, and Programming of the Municipality of Patras (2018–2019), with responsibilities covering recycling, energy planning, and management of NSRF (ESPA) and EU-funded programs.
