Prof. Christakis Paraskeva

Dr Christakis Paraskeva is Prodessor at the Chemical Engineering Department of University of Patras and he is the Director of the Laboratory of Transport Phenomena and Physicochemical Hydrodynamics. His research interests are related to Separation Processes and Particle Technologies. In detail, the scientific areas of his interest: Particle technologies and separation methods, Particle systems, Particle flows in porous materials, filtration of particulate pollutants, Separation processes of liquid waste with membrane filtration technologies (Ultrafiltration, Nanofiltration, Reverse Osmosis) with applications in the treatment of agro-industrial liquid waste. He has extensive experience in the treatment of liquid wastewater with membranes at the laboratory and pilot level in a pilot plants equipped with ultrafiltration (UF), nanofiltration (NF), and reverse osmosis (RO) membranes. In recent years, Dr. C. A. Paraskeva has investigated the treatment of olive mill wastes(solid and liquid), olive tree leaves, marc peals form vineyards, espresso coffee spent residuals, etc where he applied series of different physicochemical methods (sieving, membrane filtration, resin adsorption, desorption, evaporation, freeze drying, etc.) for the isolation of phenolic substances with high purity and for their utilization in the food industry and in the pharmaceutical industry. He participated in more than 30 international (BRITE- EURAM, ENERGY, TEMPUS, INCO-Copernicus, CRAFT, IST, Environment & Climate; Environment and Sustainable Development; Regions of Knowledge, INTERREG, LIFE, Horizon, etc), national (EPET/SPA, STRIDE, EPET, ESPA, SYNERGASIA, ARISTEIA II, PENED, PAVE, etc) and in 4 industrial research projects. He authors 80 refereed journal publications, 9 papers in books, 63 papers in proceedings of international conferences, 61papers in proceedings of national conferences. There are about 3000 references on his work and the h-index on his work is 28. He served also as reviewer in more than 55 journals and in Research Proposals submitted to GSRT, EYDE/ETAK (ELIDEK), IKY, (Greece), QNRF (QATAR), FONDECYT SCIENCE (CHILE), CARIPLO FOUNDATION-AGER (ITALY). Finally, he served as Guest Editor in 2 special Issues and he holds 1 Granted patent
