Ioannis K. Kookos is a Professor in Process Synthesis, Optimization and Control at the Polytechnic School of the University of Patras. He holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and an MSc in Process Systems Engineering from Imperial College, London (1994). He holds also a PhD from Imperial College, London (2001), Centre for Process Systems Engineering. He has worked as a Chemical Engineer for 3 years and was a Lecturer at UMIST for 4 years (2001-2005). He has developed extensive research activity through a number of national and European programs but mainly programs funded by multinational companies on the preliminary design and comparative economic/environmental evaluation of low TRL systems. He has published more than 150 papers in international journals and scientific conferences, receiving honorary distinctions for his work and more than 4700 citations (impact index = 38/ Google Scholar). He has served as a member of the Scientific Committee of two Elsevier journals, is a reviewer in more than 50 international journals, has served as a member of numerous scientific conference committees and a member of evaluation committees of national/international research projects.
