EUSOME: Enabling Autonomous Aerial Systems through Operational Methods and Technological Enhancements

EUSOME is a four-year Horizon Europe project (Grant Agreement No. 101187121, 2025-2028) that aims to modernize the air mobility ecosystem in the Southeast Mediterranean. It addresses regional challenges such as the transport of goods and passengers, surveillance of complex terrain, fire risk management, and traffic congestion monitoring, through the integration of large drone systems and intelligent coordination technology. The project is coordinated by the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence at the University of Cyprus and brings together 15 partners from Cyprus, Greece, Poland, and Serbia, with a total budget of approximately EUR 6 million (EU contribution EUR 5,998,806.25). ISI participates in the project with Evangelos Vlachos as Principal Investigator, covering 6G-integrated U-Space communications, UAV path planning under channel uncertainty, and Detect-and-Avoid for BVLOS operations.
